General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

As of May 25, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies in Sweden. GDPR replaces the Personal Data Protection Act (PUL) and was adopted by the EU in April 2016.

The new rules strongly focus on protecting personal privacy. The purpose of collecting personal data must be clearly stated, and data may only be processed with consent.

As an individual, you have better control over your personal data. This is also positive for us as a company, since we naturally want to make sure our customers are satisfied and only receive relevant information. We protect your personal data and personal integrity in line with the Personal Data Protection Act and have chosen to comply with GDPR as well.

Handling personal data and its purpose

Tornum AB with subsidiaries (Tornum) processes your personal data in order to handle your orders, respond to inquiries, provide the best possible service, and customize our websites. The data is also used to contact you with information and offers. Additionally, it provides input for marketing, customer analysis, business development, and method improvements.

If authorities require access to your personal data, it will be provided only if required by law.

If Tornum is sold, the buyer will take over the collected personal data, but only if they agree to follow GDPR.

We use cookies on our websites. A cookie is a small text file that the website you visit asks to store on your computer. This lets us see how the site is used and adapt content to your preferences. Cookies cannot access, read, or change other data on your computer.

You have the right to opt out of marketing.

Data security
1.1.2 How we protect your data

We at Tornum take our responsibility for data security seriously. We do our best to prevent unauthorized access and ensure the information is handled correctly, safeguarding its integrity and availability. We use reasonable and appropriate physical, technical, and administrative procedures to manage the data we collect securely.

  • Secure environment – we follow general recommendations for IT and internet security

  • Secure web communication – our website uses SSL encryption. Payment services provided by third parties are also encrypted

1.1.3 How long we keep your data

Tornum only keeps your personal data as long as necessary for the stated purposes, while considering good customer service and the need to handle questions about past contacts. We also comply with any legal requirements for longer retention.

This means we may retain your personal data for a reasonable period after your last interaction with us. When no longer needed, the data will be deleted. Certain information may be kept in anonymized form. Due to the nature of our products, we may store certain information for up to 50 years.

1.1.4 Changes to these terms

If we make changes to these terms, the updated version will be published here with a new revision date. We recommend you check this page regularly. If significant changes are made, we will notify customers directly, for example by email, before they take effect.
